Prerequisite: Basic sewing skills. If you know how to operate a sewing machine and some basic quilting skills, you can take this class.
Fold, stitch, wrap and clamp fabric in this introduction to shibori, the Japanese
manual resist-dyeing method. This workshop is fast-paced and lots of fun; manipulate dry, white cotton, place it in the dye vat, and unwrap a beautiful design! This workshop uses Procion dyes to achieve a deep indigo blue color on fat quarters of cotton.

Supplies provided during this workshop:
Procion dye, soda ash, buckets, wooden slats, rubber bands, beads, soda ash, clamps, timers, electric hotplate, plastic tablecloth, Ziploc bags, instruction handouts, latex gloves.
About Robin Green:
Robin is an esteemed improv quilter, hand sewist, and fabric dyer from New Haven, CT. She holds an M.Phil. in Art History from Yale University and has been teaching since 2007. Her quilts are improvised expressions of color and rhythm with discordant colors buzzing alongside each other and hand quilting that “bring the final quilt to life”.
