Great news! Sherri Lynn Wood, this year’s Keynote Speaker at QuiltCon, will be joining us for a specially-designed 3-day-weekend retreat she crafted just for Cate’s Sew Modern, based on the survey we did with you all last year. In that survey, those of you who quilt expressed three overwhelming desires: to learn improv, master curves, and understand how to use color effectively in your work.
These days, most of Sherri Lynn’s classes are limited to one day in duration, not allowing enough time to work with students on the the most important elements of improv: the compositional aspects of your work. This weekend retreat will allow you time to create wedge curve elements informed by your sense of intuitive color in day one, followed by work on composing those elements into a quilt top in day two. Learn how to improvise with patchwork, commit one step at a time, explore flexible patterns, and find your creative flow, with a special emphasis on your intuitive sense of color.
As Sherri would say, “Get your wedge-curve, mod-mood, groove on” at Cate’s Sew Modern!
NOTES: The studio will stay open until 11pm Saturday night for those who want to continue sewing. We will also have optional, specially-curated packets of solid fat quarters available based on Sherri Lynn’s color guidance ahead of time. Prices for supplies are discounted for the class.
Price for the entire 3-day weekend, which includes Friday night’s Ruler-Free Improv Mashup & Book Signing, is $445. You may pay this fee in two installments so long as we receive payment in full by May 31st. Those who have put down deposits to hold your spot ahead of time will need to pay the rest of the first installment of $222.50 by March 15th.
Space is limited.
