Class Description:

In this class students will make a still life using raw edge applique.  Opportunity awaits as you collage a wall, table, vase, and flowers! Emphasis will be placed on transitioning values, composition, and construction. Students will choose quilt size, colors and style of their own creation.

On Friday evening there will be a short trunk show, presentation on collage, and students will see variations of similar quilts to help them decide on their own project.  During Saturday and Sunday, there will be ample to time to explore, experiment and quilt. In this project some quilting is done before the entire piece is finished. Students may decide to quilt during retreat time or do so at home.

Space is limited.

Christina’s Autobiography:

I make quilts, but mine are probably unlike anything your grandmother ever made (unless you had one very hip grandmother).

In my work, no subject matter is off-limits, nor any construction method.  Up until now, my quilts have reflected the physical, social, spiritual, and historical worlds as I perceive them, in all their beauty, complexity, simplicity and emotion.  And dogs. Several of my works have been of my dog, Dutch; I believe Dutch should earn his keep, and he enjoys being my model.

My work has been displayed in such places as my very own living room, Grand Central Terminal and the International Quilt Festival.  I post the whereabouts of my quilts on my Facebook page.

In addition to making quilts, I am a wife, mother, dog walker, and recently have taken up the sport of curling.  I am a member, and past CT state representative to the international art quilt organization Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA).
